Objective: Pipestone Business provides financial services to family farms of today becoming the farms of tomorrow. The Accounting Specialist will utilize the Pipestone accounting platform and processes to serve our customers producing crops and livestock.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSObtain and maintain a thorough understanding of general ledger structure.Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactionsProcess cash receipts and disbursementsMaintain sales order and purchase order systemsMaintain general ledger accounts by reconciling asset and liability accountsAnalyze general ledger accounts to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and timelyUnderstanding of financial reports and preparation of those reportsMaintain depreciation and accrual schedulesPrepare period close information for internal and external usersPrepare financial statements using standard operating proceduresCommunicate effectively with agricultural producersAbility to work in and contribute to a professional team environmentAbility to manage multiple customer files simultaneouslyAttention to detailMARGINAL FUNCTIONSKnowledge of pork productionKnowledge of feed manufacturingKnowledge of commodity risk management and livestock marketingAbility to analyze dataMiscellaneous tasks as assignedPOSITION SPECIFICATIONSEducation: 2 or 4 year degree in accounting or agricultural business preferred, but not required.Experience:Livestock and/or crop production preferredStrong Microsoft Excel skills required; Customer service experience preferred
