Job Description Job Description Purchasing Manager The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing all procurement activities, ensuring materials, supplies, equipment, and services are sourced cost?effectively and delivered on time. This role manages vendor relationships, purchasing operations, inventory controls, and purchasing staff to support efficient and accurate procurement processes. This is a Contract to Hire opportunity located near Aurora, IL. Key Responsibilities Manage all purchasing activities, including ordering materials, supplies, equipment, and issuing purchase orders. Coordinate with vendors to obtain bids, evaluate performance, negotiate pricing and terms, and maintain strong supplier relationships. Monitor inventory levels, including minimum/maximum quantities and safety stock, making adjustments based on usage and operational needs. Collaborate with Accounting to reconcile invoices, verify proper coding, and resolve discrepancies. Research and recommend materials, parts, equipment, and tooling, providing analysis on pricing, quality, and availability. Maintain accurate purchasing records, including cost data, delivery tracking, product quality, and usage information. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between purchase orders, receivers, and invoices while working with vendors and internal teams. Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives. Manage, coach, and develop purchasing staff, including oversight of the Purchasing Clerk. Execute special projects and additional duties as required. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of supervisory purchasing experience. Strong communication, negotiation, and vendor?management skills. Ability to operate effectively in a fast?paced environment with multiple priorities. High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem?solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP experience preferred. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
