The Vice President of Operations is a highly visible and key leadership role in the business unit and will lead Operations for both the HT and Rotron businesses with sites in Garden City, NY, Woodstock, NY, El Cajon, CA and operations in Reynosa, MX. This position will be responsible for managing and driving results for all areas of operations as well as the safe and effective manufacturing of our products. This includes shaping the overall vision and direction of the manufacturing operation, engineering, quality assurance and quality control. In addition, this position directs all initiatives of manufacturing process improvements and motivating teams to strive for high quality performance.

This person will have a hands-on approach while remaining strategic and ensuring that a proper organizational structure is in place that utilizes lean manufacturing processes to direct plant operations, consistent with sales forecasts, production schedules and planned growth. The key to success in this position is consistently meeting production and sales (revenue and profit) goals.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Leads and manages the Operations Leadership team, either directly or indirectly, and EHS and Production Planning. Indirectly responsible for and leads the direct reports of the Operations Leadership team, such as individual contributors and production workers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of manufacturing in the business unit including regular visits to each site. This includes health, safety, and environmental stewardship; material control, labor/overhead planning, forecasting, budgeting, engineering, capital planning and expenditures, plant-level production planning and control, quality assurance/inspection, facilities planning and maintenance
- Build, lead and develop a highly motivated and world-class team. This includes developing an organization to meet the business unit 's goals and manufacturing initiatives, driving a performance-based culture. Manages staff selection, performance, development and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach the business goals and expectations.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing strategy and readiness to support business objectives. Establish metrics, measurements and tools to improve efficiency, effectiveness and communication; ensuring the requirements of the customer are met, optimizing product value, reducing cost and ensuring on time delivery.
- Ongoing evaluation and process improvement of plant reliability and productivity. This includes identifying, developing, implementing and managing innovative, effective and economical production methods, systems and processes
- Consistently monitor operations and analyze costs to maximize opportunities to contain costs and increase quality, efficiency and profit margins. This includes recommending and managing capital improvements to capitalize on business opportunities, increasing plant reliability, lowering production product cost, rationalizing manufacturing processes and sites as necessary to meet corporate objectives
- Actively champion continuous process improvement efforts across all aspects of operations and ensure that all manufacturing facilities are properly and consistently applying lean tools and methodologies (e.g. VSM, standard work, pull systems, SMED, variance reduction, etc.) to drive quality, delivery and productivity improvements, while minimizing lead-time and WIP.
- Assistance in the direction of environmental, health and safety programs and dealing with regulatory agencies on related matters, as required. Maintain a safe work environment that meets and/or exceeds all applicable OSHA and environmental requirements. Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor 's degree in business, engineering or other technical related discipline is required; MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
- Proven record of success as a -hands on- operations management leader with at least 10 years ' experience in similar role with a history of progressively responsible career progression.
- Due to ITAR Restrictions, an export license may be required.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong business acumen, analytical thinking and numerical ability, problem solving skills and communications skills (both written and oral) with attention to detail..
- Highly strategic but can quickly flex to tactical, forward-thinking and collaborative.
- Proven ability to successfully handle multiple projects and meet critical deadlines.
- Must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to relationship-building, both internally and externally.
- Experience should include build-to-order manufacturing management experience in medium volume/high-mix production environments, preferably in the military or aerospace industries.
- Demonstrated history of progression through manufacturing ranks within a multi-site setting with successful change implementation and implementing of operational excellence improvements such as lean manufacturing, demand flow, and six sigma.
- Strong ability to communicate with all levels of the organization from the production floor to the executive office; strong interpersonal, leadership, & organizational skills.
- Familiar with a manufacturing machining environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and familiarity with a variety of lean tools and methodologies including, but not limited to: VSM, Standard Work, Pull Systems & Kanban, Integrated Business Planning, Daily Management, 5S/Visual Management, 3P, SMED, TPM, Variation Reduction and Six Sigma.
