Infrastructure Group is one of Brookfield Asset Management's
primary operating platforms. The Infrastructure Group operates and
manages $94 billion of assets owned through its listed and unlisted
investment vehicles. Our portfolio is comprised of long-life, high
quality infrastructure assets with high barriers to entry that
generate stable and growing cash flows. Our portfolio of
infrastructure assets are primarily in the utilities, transport,
energy and communication infrastructure sectors, located in North
and South America, Europe and Australasia. The Role As a key member
of the Brookfield Infrastructure Asset Management team in Toronto,
reporting to the VP, Portfolio Management, the Director, Operations
will, among other activities, oversee and, support the ongoing
development and construction of our existing and forthcoming asset
classes in North and South America. As Brookfield's local technical
generalist resource, the Director, in conjunction with other
investment partners, and our advisors, will be focused on 1)
supporting the technical due diligence of new investments and 2)
contributing to the oversight over related capital expenditures and
lifecycle activities, with a strong emphasis on the achievement of
key performance metrics and adherence to health and safety
protocol. Under this role you will review current processes,
systems and infrastructure to ensure that Brookfield is well
positioned to support the growth of each respective business. In
addition, the Director will provide financial and advisory support
to the key business leaders within the internal Infrastructure
team. Key Accountabilities:--- Support the technical assessment and
underwriting of new investments in partnership with our transaction
team:- Engage and manage external consultants as required-
Participate in site visits and management meetings with the purpose
of information gathering in order to test the integrity of the
assets under consideration- Support the underwriting of capex and
opex projections- Assess the risks associated to the prospective
transaction including analyses of:* EPC contracts and/or O&M
arrangements* Technical and business acumen of the management team*
Health & Safety compliance, and supporting practices* Social and
environmental responsibility and sustainability- As required,
provide technical support to other aspects of the pending
transaction such as traffic and revenue projections and capacity
limitations of the asset--- Provide technical support to the
business development team in support of future opportunities--- Be
a strong contributor to the oversight of the delivery and
management of Capital Expenditures for assets under management:-
Ensure that projects are properly planned and scoped, and that
delivery is performing against the intended schedule and budget-
Provide recommendations on key issues that improve the overall
effectiveness of the capital projects in support of corporate and
operational objectives.- Assess project control procedures and risk
management tools- Coordinate contractual arrangements with
subcontractors and suppliers according to the project scope- Ensure
that shareholders are kept apprised of the project's progress---
Working alongside the Portfolio Management leadership team to
monitor and advise on Life Cycle capex activities- Ensure that long
term maintenance capital plans are in place and tracking to
projections- Conduct a regular review of Life Cycle capex programs
in conjunction with local technical teams with a goal to achieve
improved scale, efficiency and effectiveness--- Become a compliance
ambassador with respect to our mandated corporate policies and
procedures including Health and Safety, Code of Conduct and
Ethics--- Oversight of performance and implementation of Health and
Safety program amongst our asset portfolio--- Participate in the
preparation of management reports and presentations to Brookfield
Infrastructure senior management Skills & Qualifications:--- B.Sc
Engineering, (mechanical, electrical, civil or equivalent). In
addition, a degree in business would be beneficial, but not
required.--- Minimum experience of 10 years in execution of
infrastructure projects including direct field experience---
Experience with direct leadership, and successful delivery of large
construction projects preferred--- Deep knowledge and experience in
EPC construction contracting, including strong commercial
experience in balancing risk and reward in large contracts---
Advance working knowledge of project controls, scheduling systems
and risk management tools--- Familiarity with Health and Safety
best practices--- Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese desirable---
Commitment to excellence in safety and environmental management---
Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative--- Exceptional
analytical and organizational skills--- Excellent written and oral
communication skills--- Exemplifies the right motivation by
aspiring to achieve collective goals--- Penchant for seeking out
