Job Description: Role Summary: As a member of the Corporate Finance team reporting to the VP Enablement, the Director Strategic Initiatives will perform a key role leading initiatives and supporting the governance and oversight of key projects for Corporate Finance. The Director will be accountable for leading the prioritizing, planning, and delivery of key initiatives across the global Finance organization to ensure that solutions align with strategic goals and delivery achieves business objectives. A key success factor will be the ability to effectively engage, partner, and influence various stakeholders within Finance, Technology, and business groups. Main Accountabilities: Maintains and manages a Finance Technology Solutions Review board (FTSRB) governance framework, in partnership with Technology partners, to support cross-Finance prioritization of technology and tool initiatives and ensure strategic alignment of technology solutions for global Finance. Responsible for identifying, managing, and prioritizing the backlog of a range of programs, projects, and initiatives within the Corporate Finance project portfolio with the goal of actively engaging key stakeholders to allocate resources to the activities that will generate the highest priority business outcomes. Identify, develop, and manage meaningful management reporting and metrics (dashboard and monitoring tools) that will enable the global Finance organization to have visibility into initiatives underway, proactively develop effective plans, and in turn effectively execute and manage the plans to achieve required outcomes. Ensure relevant communication and co-ordination of applicable change management activities in partnership with leaders to support the key stakeholder groups' requirements. Support the Digital Enterprise strategy by championing the deployment of applicable project delivery methodologies, including agile, in the delivery of initiatives for Finance. Collaborate effectively with business partners to drive decisions, plans, and problem solving. Act as an additional resource to--participate in a variety of capacities on business area projects as required (e.g. senior business analyst, project manager, researcher, facilitator) Performs ad-hoc analysis and provides recommendations to senior management to influence decisions Act as an additional resource to--participate in a variety of capacities on business area projects as required (e.g. senior business analyst, project manager, researcher, facilitator) Strong interpersonal and teamwork--skills with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with other Finance teams, the Business Groups and Units, and technology partners Strong influencing and negotiation skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and present effectively to all levels, including senior management. Strong planning, organizational, and leadership skills, including the ability to mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach, build consensus to move forward Knowledge and familiarity of technology solutions, specifically in the Finance field Strong technical, analytical and problem solving skills Ability to understand, explain, and present complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences at all levels Flexible to changing priorities and timelines Self-motivated and results-oriented Ability to leverage technology to streamline processes and provide analytical support Education: University degree - accounting designation or information technology preferred but not required PMP/PMI certification preferred Experience and Assets: Experience in Finance and Accounting practices and processes Has proven project management and leadership skills and a good knowledge of business analysis Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgeting Experience working in the insurance industry or a large financial institution The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
