It all begins with you.The Payments, Virtual Solutions, and Innovation (PVSI) team includes Operations, Consumer Credit Card, Retail Services, Consumer Deposits, the Innovation Group, Treasury Management, Merchant Services and Wells Fargo Virtual Channels and the professional services teams that partner with these businesses. PVSI's focus is on delivering the next generation of payments and deposit capabilities and advancing our digital and online offerings to design new customer experiences and products. Our guiding principles are to start with the customer, move faster, and partner effectively.PVSI Marketing ControlThe PVSI Marketing Control team is specifically responsible for the management of non-financial risk within PVSI, including operational risk, compliance risk, model risk, reputation risk and strategic risk. The team serves as the First Line of Defense and supports Marketing's mission to become a world-class organization by assisting in establishing and strengthening operational controls, enhancing the controls culture, and ensuring Marketing's activities do not create regulatory, operational, or reputational risk for Wells Fargo. This position will serve as an Operational Risk Manager supporting the Marketing Centers of Excellence (COEs) within PVSI that are responsible for executing marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of operational risk management with experience managing the development, implementation and monitoring of a risk-based program for a functional area with high risk and complexity. In this role, the Manager will be responsible for overseeing a team of Operational Risk Consultants responsible for identifying risks associated with key business processes, evaluating the adequacy of controls and recommending risk mitigation strategies. In addition, the ability to develop relationships, mentor consultants and learn new processes will be key to success in this role. Additional responsibilities include influencing business partners to advance our risk management practices and strengthen our control environment.Specific responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for managing the development, implementation and monitoring of a risk-based program for a COE within Marketing with moderate to high risk and complexity to identify, assess and mitigate operational risk that arises from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems or external events.
  • Manages the relationship with a Marketing COE and provides a Risk Profile to their Leadership team.
  • Represents assigned Marketing COE on all operational risk matters requiring review and approval by senior management.
  • Works with and influences senior operational risk and business management to identify, formulate, and implement operational risk policies, procedures and controls for the respective business process to mitigate risk.
  • Oversees a team support a group of business processes and accomplishes work through Operational Risk Consultants.
  • Provides operational risk expertise to business projects and initiatives and participates in the development of risk rating systems.
  • Leads the design, implementation and oversight of the Control Function's processes to support risk management activities.As a Team Member Manager, you are expected to achieve success by leading yourself, your team, and the business. Specifically you will:
    • Lead your team with integrity and create an environment where your team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
    • Accomplish management responsibilities which include sourcing and hiring talented team members, providing ongoing coaching and feedback, recognizing and developing team members, identifying and managing risks, and completing daily management tasks.Preferred locations: Des Moines, IA; Charlotte, NC; Minneapolis, MN; and St. Louis, MO. Other locations may be considered.

      Required Qualifications
      • 8+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 8+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 4+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both
      • 3+ years of management experience

        • Ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner

          Other Desired Qualifications
          • Knowledge across enterprise risk management framework, including: risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance.
          • Experience successfully getting work done through others and providing coaching to Operational Risk Consultants to enhance their risk management skills.
          • Strong analytical ability used to identify risks and raise issues, escalate early and engage in constructive credible challenge.
          • Knowledge of the financial services industry, products, applications and regulatory environment.
          • Experience performing process, risk and control assessments.
          • Ability to work independently in a virtual team environment where other team members, team management, and business partners are not always local.
          • Ability to build consensus through strategic vision and outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
          • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of management.
          • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
          • Ability to identify and evaluate trends, isolate root cause, and provide swift/thorough resolution.
          • Proven ability to proactively manage and resolve conflict and effectively defend decisions with objective rationale.
