Facility: East Patient Building Location: Sioux Falls, SD Address: 1305 W 18th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57105, USA Shift: Rotating Job Schedule: Full time Weekly Hours: 36.00 Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care to patients. Collaborates with other inter-professional colleagues, including physicians, to plan, implement and evaluate care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Cares for patients in all phases of preventative care, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up as patients move along the continuum of care. Responsible for the planning and coordination of care, patient assessment, patient education, triage, and various other nursing interventions. Functions within the scope and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct. Department Details Excellent opportunity for an RN to Cross-Train in Surgical Renal and Acute Dialysis!! 1 year of RN Hospital experience strongly preferred in ICU/CCU This person will work a 6 week schedule in Acute Dialysis and a 6 week schedule in Surgical Renal. Every 3rd weekend and holiday. Days in Acute Dialysis and rotating Day/Night on Surgical Renal. CROSSTRAIN Surgical Renal & Acute Dialysis Acute Dialysis Unit This 9-bed unit provides dialysis to hospitalized patients. Acute dialysis staff have the unique opportunity to care for all ages of patients from pediatric to geriatric. They assist with multiple dialysis modalities including Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Continuous Renal Replacement therapy. Hemodialysis may be performed in the 9-bed dialysis suite, ICU, Select or at the Castle. Patients may be on dialysis due to End Stage Renal Disease or Acute Kidney Injury. Continuous Renal Replacement therapy is performed in the ICU. Peritoneal Dialysis is also performed at the patient"s bedside. Acute Dialysis is an area where staff can become specialized in the care they give. We are a small unit of close-knit nurses who are very dedicated to the care of dialysis patients. SURGICAL RENAL UNIT This 19-bed telemetry unit provides services to complex patients. Diagnosis include chronic renal failure, acute renal failure, hypertension, diabetes, head/neck cancer, thyroid cancer, heart failure, chronic wounds, paraplegics/quadriplegics, and also patients with general medical needs. In addition, our team provides care to kidney transplant recipients and living donors. This unit also has an outpatient infusion room where the " New" kidney transplant patients come to receive infusions after they are discharged home. The nursing staff collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, pharmacist, physical therapist, respiratory therapists, case managers and social workers to deliver individualized care to our patients. The surgical renal unit is a small, family-oriented unit where you can gain exceptional nursing skills and become part of a work family. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor"s Degree in nursing preferred. Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
