The 30-bed medical surgical unit and eight-bed progressive care
unit equips nurses with fundamental critical care experience in
mechanical ventilation, while providing a solid nursing foundation
focused on safe patient outcomes. Nursing staff collaborate with an
interdisciplinary team of specialty providers, pharmacists,
physical therapists, respiratory therapists, case managers and
social workers to deliver patient-centered care.
Average length of stay is four days on the wings and nine days in
pulmonary acute care. Diagnosis in the pulmonary population ranges
from pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive
heart failure and pulmonary embolism to complex cases requiring
nursing skills for oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, chest
tubes, tracheostomies, postoperative care, non-invasive
ventilation, mechanical ventilation and cardiac monitoring. The

Plans and coordinates patient care, assessment, education, triage
and various other nursing interventions
Collaborates with colleagues, including physicians, to plan,
implement and evaluate care
Empathetically cares for patients during all stages of preventive
services, health maintenance, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up
along the continuum of care
Demonstrates competency and uses comprehensive nursing
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required, including,
but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing
(AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN),
and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education
Accreditation (NLN CNEA). Bachelor s Degree in nursing
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of
Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess
multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific
competencies and certifications.
