Why Sanford:
Crosstrain RN opportunity between Pulmonary & Surgical
Cardiovascular:
The 30-bed Pulmonary medical surgical unit and eight-bed
progressive care unit equips nurses with fundamental critical care
experience in mechanical ventilation, while providing a solid
nursing foundation focused on safe patient outcomes.
Average length of stay is four days on the wings and nine days in
pulmonary acute care. Diagnosis in the pulmonary population ranges
from pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive
heart failure and pulmonary embolism to complex cases requiring
nursing skills for oxygen therapy, intravenous medications, chest
tubes, tracheostomies, postoperative care, non-invasive
ventilation, mechanical ventilation and cardiac monitoring. The
diverse patient population and the supportive family culture of the
pulmonary unit offer a great atmosphere to advance your nursing
skills.
The Surgical Cardiovascular unit is comprised of a 44-bed unit and
additional 11-bed overflow unit with telemetry capabilities for
surgical patients. The unit provides care to a variety of patient
populations, most frequently being surgical related.
The unit works closely with other departments such PACU and ICU as
patients transition from these departments to 2000. The technical,
hands-on skills of nursing are used every day on the unit, as most
patients come with a number of tubes, lines, drains, and/or wound
cares/dressing changes. This combination creates a challenging,
fast-paced environment to work in, and provides an opportunity for
learning, growth, and a strong foundation for any nursing
career.
