RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool night position requiring SD or compact
RN licensure, with strong critical care and ventilator skills.
Responsibilities - Position is in the Central Resource Pool of a
Level 1 trauma acute care hospital - Assignment involves floating
to Med/Surg and Progressive Care (IMC) units with both COVID and
non-COVID patient populations - Units include a 30-bed med surg
unit and an 8-bed progressive care unit, with potential flex up to
41 beds based on census - Shift is straight nights with 12-hour
shifts, including every other weekend and holiday - Uses Epic EMR
for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for
medications - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute IMC,
1:4–5 on days, and 1:5–6 on nights in Med/Surg - Floating to other
Med-Surg units required, with travelers being the first to reassign
- Primary duties include providing critical respiratory and
med-surg care including management of mechanical ventilation,
cardiac monitoring, intravenous medications, and postoperative care
- Training includes initial competency validation and unit-based
preceptorship over several shifts - Interdisciplinary collaboration
is integral, involving case managers, respiratory therapists,
pharmacists, and specialty providers - Dress code is navy blue
scrubs - Holiday and rotating weekend coverage are required as part
of the schedule - Local candidates within 80 miles are accepted,
with compensation adjustment - Commitment to safety, clinical
excellence, and patient-centered outcomes is expected Requirements
- Active RN license in South Dakota or a compact state required -
Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or IMC experience - Current BLS
and ACLS certifications (AHA) - Proficiency in Bipap, Cpap, heated
high flow, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and
general med-surg care - Experience with Epic EMR preferred - Must
disclose previous employment with the health system and have a 6
