Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, rotating - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with telemetry and pulmonary care skills for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a SD or compact state RN license and weekend/holiday coverage. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital acute care setting on a combined 30-bed medical surgical and 8-bed progressive care unit - Pulmonary patient population including cases such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolism - Perform specialized procedures including oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation monitoring for bronchoscopies, chest tubes, tracheostomies, non-invasive and mechanical ventilation, and cardiac monitoring - Patient to nurse ratios: 1:3 in Pulmonary Acute (IMC RNs); 1:4-5 on day shifts and 1:5-6 on night shifts - Uses Epic for documentation, Alaris pumps for IV fluids, and Acudose for medications - Requires 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation - Floating to Med-Surg units required, with travelers prioritized for reassignment - Diverse pulmonary patient mix offers nursing experience in critical and progressive care procedures - Initial training includes comprehensive orientation with core competency validation, online modules, and unit-based preceptorship - Strong interdisciplinary team environment emphasizing patient safety, clinical advancement, and recognition for high-performing individuals - Blue scrubs required as dress code - Candidates who previously worked with Sanford Health must have a separation of at least 6 months before consideration - Local candidates are accepted, with those living within 80 miles considered local for pay purposes Requirements - Active SD or compact RN license required - Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience - Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association - Proficiency in Bipap, Cpap, Heated High Flow, oxygen titration, telemetry, moderate sedation, and medical-surgical patient care - Experience using Epic charting system preferred Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-630149.
