The Dairy and Food Science Department at South Dakota State University (SDSU) invites applications for a 12-month, benefit-eligible position of Coordinator - Recruitment and Academic Services for undergraduate student recruiting and advising. This position provides a unique opportunity to recruit future leaders of the dairy and food industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The objective of this position is to increase undergraduate enrollment in the department. Responsibilities include developing and implementing effective recruitment plans focusing on enrollment of undergraduate students in the Dairy and Food Science Department. This position meets with and advises prospective students about the academic offerings, activities, careers, and other opportunities that the Dairy and Food Science Department provides and will represent the Department at University and industry events and meetings. Travel is required. This position will develop workshops, immersion exercises on campus for High School juniors and seniors and develop linkages with high school counselors. Collaboration is expected between this position and SDSU Office of Admissions. The person holding this position will also be an ambassador to the College and SDSU in general. Responsibilities may also include advising undergraduates and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Earned Bachelor's degree in a field related to Dairy or Food Science, Communications, Marketing, or Educational Counseling, or related field is required by date of appointment; at least one year of experience in Dairy or Food Science, Communications, Marketing, or Educational Counseling; strong interest in dairy and food systems; track record/skills with communication with high-school age individuals; effective written, verbal, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills; willingness to travel; and a valid driver's license. Must have enthusiasm for marketing programs of the department.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.S. degree; experience in recruiting undergraduate students; student services experience; and experience with youth programs such as FFA, 4-H and others.

Jackrabbits Athletics competes as an NCAA Division I member with membership in the Missouri Valley Football Conference, the Summit League and the Big XII for wrestling.

Brookings is home to approximately 24,000 residents and is located 60 miles north of Sioux Falls and 200 miles west of Minneapolis.
