Responsible planning and oversight of daily activities and release functions within the Quality Control (QC) department.  Provide leadership and training to QC personnel. Communicate effectively across departments and to the CVB with matters relating to APHIS 2008 submissions.

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Supervise the necessary QC testing paperwork preparation, completion, and ensure accurate submission to CVB and/or internal reporting.
  • Monitor all phases of QC to insure compliance with approved Production Outlines, Special Outlines, 9CFR guidelines, VIAH, and internal Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ensure the QC facilities and equipment are maintained.
  • Train and review performance of QC personnel at regular intervals.
  • Plans activities and structures work for others and prepares work schedule for self.
  • Represent QC on cross functional teams in investigation, analysis, and resolution of issues and continuous improvement.
  • Lead investigation of laboratory error to identify root cause and prevent repeated errors. Trend data from the department to identify trends or for reporting as a KPI.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements\:

  • Master's degree OR BS degree in related field from an accredited institution with four (4) years related experience; Or
  • AS degree in related field from an accredited institution with six (6) years related experience; Or
  • Ten (10) years of related experience.
  • Requires level 2 eAuthentication status with the USDA, approved APHIS 2007 status for NCAH quality review and serial release.
  • Be familiar and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies including the USDA/CVB, C-CVB, VICH, OSHA, Federal, State, and Local Agencies. 
  • Familiarity with USDA/9 CFR regulations governing the manufacturing of autogenous animal biologics.
  • Must be able to work with animals such as mice and pigs.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and be on call to respond to alarms at either QC building.
  • May lift 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be cleared for animal work and fit tested for a N95 half mask or full mask respirator.

 

Eligibility Requirements\:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
