Responsible for strategy implementation, budget and OPEX, CAPX, personnel, innovation, technology deployment and compliance with regulatory of the Newport Diagnostic Lab and R&D Group in Worthington Minnesota.

Duties & Responsibilities\:

  • Responsible for development and execution of objectives for diagnostic, lab management  and R&D which are aligned with the swine strategy and company objectives

  • Coordination with members of Livestock Team to evaluate and modify project portfolio when necessary.

  • Participation in Livestock marketing and sales meetings, to help ensure coordination of Diagnostic and R&D activities with sales, technical and marketing.  Bring leading edge technology and expertise to create value to customers

  • Routinely track and report pertinent data, including diagnostic testing volumes, expenses, revenue, and Net Cost of Operations.  Utilize project time-tracking and cost center expenses to determine cost per project, and report as necessary. Maintain expense tracking and report expenses for cost centers. Evaluate, and if necessary, adjust assay pricing annually. Finalize and submit Dx, and R&D budgets annually.

  • Provide management of Lab operations and personnel, ensuring the department is staffed with qualified personnel. Responsible for recruiting and hiring qualified candidates to ensure all allocated positions are filled. Effectively administers salary and reward programs. Coach/mentor, develop, motivate and monitor team members' performance, to include\: actionable MAG Plans, regular coaching/mentoring, and conduct timely MAG Plan reviews. Identify performance challenges, create action plans and monitor the effectiveness of these action plans. Ensures active development plans and required technical knowledge of personnel.

  • Performs all Company business in accordance with all regulations (e.g., EEO, FDA, etc.) and Company policy and procedures. When violations are noted/observed they are to be immediately reported to management.

  • Demonstrates high ethical and professional standards with all business contacts in order to maintain BIVI's excellent reputation within the animal health community and internally.

  • Administrate and prioritize R&D projects in alignment with business strategy, assuring provide resources and delivery results timely





  • M.S. degree from an accredited institution in animal, biological, statistical sciences, business, or related field required.

  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in management of employees or swine industry

  • Business administration (i.e., budgets, financial reports, etc.) skills.

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet and communication software.

  • Strong desire to serve the pork industry and pork producers.

  • Experience with databases especially LIMS system preferred. 

  • Experience in clinical diagnostic medicine specifically disciplines including molecular (including sequencing), serology, bacteriology, virology, chemistry and environmental testing.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
