Help DutiesAs an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-9/11, you will: This position is located in the Plans and Resources Section of a Base Communications Unit. This is an Air National Guard (ANG) Dual Status Technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to serve as the Base Information Assurance Manager who is the wing commander's authority and focal point for Information Assurance. Manages the communication-computer security (COMPUSEC) program, Electronic Key Management System (EKMS), Emission Security, and Information Assurance Awareness Programs.Help Requirements Conditions of Employment

Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 3D190, 3D0X1, 3D0X2, 3D0X3, 3D1X1, 3D1X2, 3D1X3, 3D1X4. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-09 - Must have at least 24 months of experience in the KSAs below. Experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. GS-11 - Must have at least 36 months of experience in the KSAs below. Experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.             • Knowledge of software and procedures used to protect systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.

            • Skill in oral and written communication to prepare and present reports, interpret policies and guidelines, provide advice and guidance to customers and management.
            • Ability to collaborate and provide technical leadership on projects that require group efforts.
            • Knowledge of telecommunications techniques, requirements and methods for the following programs: Computer Security (COMPUSEC); communications security (COMSEC), Emissions Security (EMSEC), and Information Assurance Awareness Program. Statement of Difference: The incumbent selected will meet the experience and educational requirements for entry at the GS-09 level for an IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) Position Description (PD) # NGD2179P01. A locally developed Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be established for the incumbent. This plan will be designed to provide the individual selected with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and hone their skills relating to the production controller position which they will be performing for promotion to the full operating level, GS-2210-11, PD # NGD2178P01. The incumbent was competitively selected to fill the position at this lower grade level. Promotion to the target grade position may be considered as a career promotion in accordance with applicable regulations, after qualifications, eligibility requirements, and completion of a locally developed IDP. The Supervisor and the next higher level supervisory will be responsible for ensuring the incumbent is performing the full scope of duties and has the skill requirements associated with the IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) position, GS-2210-11, PD #NGD2178P01, prior to allowing the individual to be promoted. THIS POSITION CONDUCTS INFORMATION ASSURANCE FUNCTIONS. THE INCUMBENT SHALL COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM AND WILL BE REQUIRED TO OBTAIN AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ARE OUTLINED IN DOD INSTRUCTION 8570.01-MEducation Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. At the GS-11 level, a Ph.D. or equivalent, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
