Title:Systems Engineer LeadKBR has a need for an energetic and dynamic Systems Engineer (SE) Lead to join its talented team in Sioux Falls, SD. KBR is the primary contractor to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for performing work at the Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center () near Sioux Falls, SD. This position will be part of a multidisciplinary staff, focusing on planning, development, and integration of the data management, processing, archiving, and distribution capabilities of remote-sensed data from the location at EROS and in the cloud.The System Engineer (SE) Lead will perform all facets of systems engineering to support the USGS Landsat Data Processing and Archive System. The candidate will evaluate new applications, system requirements, developments in field of expertise, and evolving business needs to recommend appropriate solutions and alternatives. Uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems and direct the daily activities of a development team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. Direct resources and provide guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy.In compliance with the U.S. federal government's vaccine mandate, only candidates who will be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, or who have a reasonable accommodation or approved medical exception will be considered for this position.Education: - -Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or equivalentExperience: - -6+ years of experienceExperience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirementsRequired Skills:

• Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Conduct systems engineering activities in accordance with the Landsat Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) including preparing operations concepts, developing and implementing requirements, defining and documenting interface definitions, conducting architecture and trade study analysis, developing integration plans, presenting milestone reviews to the customer, executing formal testing, and transitioning to operations
• Responsible for planning and managing scope, schedule, and budget
• Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Explain technical details and issues clearly to non-technical individuals and be able to explain system concepts and problems clearly and concisely
• Lead and interface effectively with other engineering staff of a multi-disciplined team, including strong interpersonal and team skills
• Strong verbal communication and writing skills
• Create and present milestone reviews -to the customer and senior leadershipDesired Skills:
  • Ability to conduct trade studies for technology upgrades, hardware options, and software
  • Experience working with or architecting Cloud solutions
  • Experience in image processing, data archiving systems, database management and design, software development, etc.
  • Experience using DOORS, Jira, and Confluence
