Position: Dean of Arts & ScienceClassification:
AdministrationDepartment: AcademicsReport to: Executive Dean
General Job Summary:This is a full-time administrative position
reporting to the Executive Dean. This is a multi-campus position
with a home base in the Estherville Campus. The Dean of Arts and
Science will provide leadership, facilitate change, and effectively
manage programs of learning, resources and personnel in the
assigned area and work closely with other academic deans and
directors across the college to create meaningful educational
outcomes. This position will serve as a liaison among students,
faculty, staff, administration, and the community-at-large with
primary supervision over faculty and staff in the Associate of Arts
and Associate of Science transfer degrees. % of TIME Essential
Duties/ResponsibilitiesConstant(67-100%) Collaborate with faculty
and staff to ensure a culture of continuous improvement of student
learning outcomes assessment, degree program evaluation, and active
learning instructional models.Promote quality in learning and
instruction by using student centered principles in leadership,
hiring, scheduling, evaluation, and professional
development.Supervise, evaluate, and encourage professional
development of Arts and Science faculty and staff, including
monitoring Quality Faculty Plans.Approach leadership and oversight
responsibilities from a foundation of integrity, honesty,
transparency, and a strong understanding of the College mission,
core values, and policies.Work effectively with other academic
deans and directors to develop course schedules and programs that
meet the needs of students.Actively participate in student
recruitment and retention activities, admissions, advising, and
registration activities.Represent the College and the Arts and
Sciences in a positive manner and develop strong relationships
between faculty and community stakeholders in education.Demonstrate
a high level of innovation, collaboration, and institutional
commitment in all actions.Utilize data to drive decisions and
inform discussions related to changes in Arts and Science
education. Frequent(34-66%) Provide leadership and assistance in
the program review process.Assist in the development,
implementation, and evaluation of new courses, ensuring appropriate
availability and sequencing of new courses through collaboration
with faculty, the registrar, and distance education.Collaborate
with High School Partnerships and Arts and Science Faculty to
facilitate meaningful dual credit enrollment.Assist in the
development, maintenance, and oversight of Arts and Science budgets
and fee structure.Actively participate in assigned College
committees and activities.Provide oversight and assistance to
ensure the completion of assessment plans in Arts and Sciences.Work
with faculty to develop recommendations for equipment and facility
updates and improvements.Facilitate the alignment of credit and
non-credit offerings of the College and assist faculty in effective
participation in non-credit education.Monitor faculty workloads and
assign overload, when necessary, within the guidelines of the
College, the Department of Education, and the Higher Learning
Commission.Collaborate with the enrollment management team,
admissions, and marketing to develop recruitment strategies that
include Arts and Science faculty to pursue Arts and Science
enrollment.Occasional(10-33%) Create a support network with deans
of other community colleges to advocate for academic priorities and
to support efforts at the College.Oversee the recruitment,
screening, and hiring process for Arts and Sciences faculty and
staff.Recommend and participate in the hiring of faculty and staff
across the college.Investigates, mediates, and resolves student
complaints and academic appeals in accordance with College
procedures.Provide input, feedback and assistance to other areas of
the College when growth opportunities extend beyond Arts and
Science.Lead projects and initiatives as requested by cabinet level
administration.Performs other duties as assigned.Serve as Title IX

budget. Special Demands:Sedentary to light work. Position involves
sitting most of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force
occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, and
pulling occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting, and grasping
frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, viewing various types of
close visual work and repetitive motion constantly (67-100%). Must
have valid driver's license, good driving record, and provide proof
of insurance. Required to travel utilizing personal vehicle.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon
successful passage of a criminal background check. Must be legally

Minimum QualificationsMaster's Degree in education or in a related
Arts and Science discipline required. Five or more years of
instructional experience at a college or university in an Arts and
Science discipline strongly preferred. Two or more years of
administrative leadership in education preferred. Any equivalent
combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully
perform the essential duties of this job will be considered as
