JOB SUMMARYThe Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Data Analyst must possess strong business acumen and a dynamic personality as this position interacts with management and business teams on multiple projects to drive performance and support company initiatives. The Analyst will design, develop, modify, document and deliver high-quality analysis and reports that meet the business's needs and improve overall results. The Analyst will also perform a hybrid set of duties to support advanced analytics capabilities throughout POET. A TYPICAL DAY COULD INCLUDE: * Designing reports or visualizations by interpreting the requirements that management, business and sponsors provide and translating them into reports that improve operational efficiency and better decision making.* Performing a variety of reporting assignments requiring knowledge of an emerging set of capabilities and tools that allow users to extract predictive and prescriptive insights. * Collaborating with developers, analysts, engineers, and others to identify opportunities for process improvements and recommendations for system modifications.* Designing, developing, testing, documenting and implementing reports using SQL and Microsoft tools with a data visualization layer.* Serving as a business partner to the biorefineries and business units by providing financial advice. Act as an independent resource to review their models for consistency, accuracy, and quality.* Assisting in the preparation of the annual plan and quarterly rolling forecasts.* Partnering with business teams in evaluating opportunities, performing value added ad-hoc analyses and special projects as required.* Developing appropriate and meaningful methods of communicating complex financial data in an easy to understand format, including developing reports, dashboards, and presentations for communicating operational and financial results. STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE * Completion of Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or related discipline. * Technical expertise--regarding--data models, data warehousing, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.* You have a strong intellectual curiosity that drives you to develop deep business subject matter expertise.* Knowledge of reporting packages (Business Objects etc.), databases (SQL etc.), programming (XML, Python, or ETL frameworks).* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.* Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.* You are self-motivated, flexible and able to manage multiple assignments concurrently and independently, with a sense of urgency.* You are eager to learn, curious, creative, organized, and able communicate well orally or in writing.* You value relationships and have a strong customer service focus.* You have strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to suggest solutions.* You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel preferred and capable of learning new programs and software.WORK ENVIRONMENT* Culture is king at POET.
