Position Summary: The Procurement Specialist is primarily responsible for procuring consumables, raw materials, equipment and other capital in support of day to day operations. The ideal employee is meticulously thorough, efficient, multi-task oriented and business savvy. The Procurement Specialist will ensure the company's supply chain needs are met, while balancing and adapting to changing needs and dynamics. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills as well as exceptional time-management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create and issue purchase orders while maintaining accurate purchasing and vendor records.
  • Ensure goods are procured and delivered within expected time frame to meet project deadlines.
  • Establish and cultivate strong business relationships with vendors. Negotiate with vendor to secure best value regarding quality and price, along with favorable shipping terms and conditions.
  • Resolve issues with suppliers for inaccurate deliveries and damaged/defective products.
  • Work closely with finance and operations to ensure alignment on; vendor management, invoicing, payments and closeout. Assist with resolving Accounts Payable issues.
  • Certify all purchasing requisitions have been approved in accordance to the Purchasing/Accounting Policy and delegation of authority.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and pricing information in the purchasing/accounting software program.
  • Effectively manage competing demands, able to self-manage multiple tasks.
  • Develop relationships with all levels of the organization to establish trust and credibility.
  • Become the subject-matter-expert on procurement systems and tools.
  • Assist others in areas as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not supervise employees. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. An independent decision maker who is a creative and efficient problem solver will excel in this position. Passionate about accuracy and the small details. Education, Experience and Certifications: Minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing and/or supply chain management required; or one of the following combinations: Associate degree with 3 years experience or Bachelor degree with 2 years experience in Business, Supply Chain or related field. Previous work experience in Quickbooks or SAP is essential. Experience in logistics and import is an advantage. Language Skills: Must have strong communication skills. Write technical reports detailing procedures, outcomes and observations. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Strong demonstrated interpersonal, troubleshooting, and communication skills. Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills. Must be able to accurately perform entry-level business mathematics. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Working Environment: Normal office environment with minimal exposure to laboratory.
