Job Description SUMMARY The Inside Sales Representative position is a client facing role with dual, but equal, responsibilities for SGS Food Laboratories including: Driving and maintaining revenue from small to mid-size food companies; and supporting and streamlining revenue capture for field sales efforts for the geography and lab(s) assigned to them.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.--- Identifies potential customers, maintains and develops existing customer relationships in an effort to assess customers' needs and suggest appropriate testing, services, and/or solutions--- Establish and maintain relationships with mid to low revenue accounts to increase customer loyalty and minimize attrition--- Monitors customer and competitor activity and industry trends in an effort to identify food testing potential--- Develops and delivers sales proposals/quotes, identifies and contacts prospective customers and builds relationships to generate future sales and repeat business--- Promotes and sells the organization's services and solutions, via telephone, email, or social media to existing and/or potential customers in order to support the sales budget--- Prospects for new customers via email, telephone, and networking--- Researches and analyzes potential customers to formulate action plans and develop new business--- Initiates qualifying calls to potential customers from various sources including existing customers, prior customers and/or potential new customers in order to support the sales budget--- Assists sales teams with individual account and territory strategy and sales reporting in an effort to identify potential new markets--- Documents planning and execution of sales activities in CRM--- Develops a business plan to outline strategy for meeting sales revenue and non-revenue goals with the intent to grow market share--- Works cooperatively with other departments--- Shares best practices with the team to promote a positive team environment--- Performs administrative duties for the sales team as needed and approved by the Sales Director--- Participates in ongoing training of service offerings to knowledgeably sell and support services to customers--- All other duties as assignedQualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Required:--- BA/BS degree in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field, or equivalent experience--- 2-5 years of technical sales or business development experience--- Knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel--- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills--- Basic business acumen and knowledge of business cycles and sales cycles--- Strong active listening and communication skills--- Strong ability to negotiate, motivate, persuade, and influence others--- Excellent prospecting and follow up skills--- Ability to work independently and as a team member--- Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrentlyPreferred:--- Working knowledge of food testing laboratories through previous work and/or sales experience--- Experience with CRM applications--- Strong negotiating and closing skills--- Knowledge of SGS North America Agriculture and Food competitors--- Experience with Food Safety--- Experience with Solutions Selling or Value SellingLICENSES / CERTIFICATIONSNone requiredTRAVEL Travels up to 5% of time.EQUIPMENTThis job operates in a professional office environment.
